About... Legends of Futuria
Legends of Futuria is a line of 5.5'' tall custom action figures.

Inspired by such diverse sources as Mego's Planet of the Apes toys and Masters of the Universe, to Thundarr the Barbarian and Tomland's Star Raiders, to 80s direct-to-video swords n sorcery epics and Denys Fisher's Cyborg, the toy line features a variety of heroic warriors and evil villains.

My goal when creating these toys is to capture the feel of a slightly ''off-brand'' toy range. As a child I was always more interested in the obscure, less-popular figures, as I felt they were somehow more special. Anybody could have a Star Wars figure, but owning a Galaxy Battles Dark Rider? That was waaay cooler.

It's that same sense of the slightly skewed I'm attempting to capture here, where a figure's head may be just slightly out of proportion, or that pre-Star Wars, Atom Age sci-fi kookiness of shows like Wonder Woman, dictating that robots should be powered by Memory Transistors. As such, the designs all feature bright, primary color paint apps, shiny swords and pew-pew lazers (that's LAZERS, not ''lasers.'') I hope you find this aesthetic as much fun as I do.

Each figure is a custom creation produced by hand by a single individual (i.e. me). This process can include (but is not limited to) painting each figure, creating custom weapons, armor and accessories (including clothing made from cloth and faux fur), crafting custom parts and more. As a result, each figure is unique, with each having its own minor differences.

Please note that these toys are art pieces designed for adult collectors to display in their collections and are not intended for everyday play. Although each figure's paint app has been treated with a sealant to avoid damage, some paint chipping/wearing may occur if the figures are excessively handled, so we advise you limit your contact with each figure to a minimum.

At present there are six characters in what will hopefully be an ongoing line. You can see them here. Although there are no plans to limit the quantity of figures-per-character produced (so long as people want them, I'll keep making them!) each is individually numbered.

FAQ

Q: Who are you?
A: I'm Iok, a toy collector and blogger. After spending many years blogging about the toys of others I decided it was time for me to take the plunge and launch my own figure line.

Q: What's the story behind Legends of Futuria?
A: Although I encourage people to create their own stories and character profiles - as we were encouraged to do as children with toys like The Micronauts (or indeed, the early Masters of the Universe toys) - there is a back-story (however simple) to the Legends of Futuria line.

Futuria is a world very different from our own, where science and magic co-exist.

Despite their differences, the various races of Futuria had lived in peace for generations, until the arrival of King Mutron, a wicked tyrant who - through his powerful technomancy and unwavering dedication to rule - has now enslaved the various realms of Futuria.

Now a group of brave freedom fighters, lead by the Space Knight Valorus, are united in their goal: to overthrow the tyrant and free their people!

Q: What do you mean when you say the toys are ''custom figures?''
A: Each figure is created as a custom, one-off piece by me. That process includes painting, stitching clothing, creating accessories and sculpting new pieces, all of which is done by hand, by me, on a per-figure basis. These toys are not created on a production line or cast from a mold. They're individual creations, each customized, painted and made awesome by me.

Q: How many figures are you going to make?
A: As many as people want!

I currently have a number characters in the first ''wave'' (with more coming later) but I do not plan on limiting the number of individual figures I'll produce on a per-character basis (so in other words, I'll keep making Rap-Tor or Nu-Rel figures so long as there's a market for them.) I do, however, number each one, so when history records the epic beginnings of Legends of Futuria, you'll be able to show your numbered piece and say, ''I was ninth in line!''

Q: Can you make me an action figure?
A: If you're asking for a specific Legends of Futuria figure that's currently not in the store, then the answer is ''probably'' (the longer answer is ''subject to time/expense/parts availability - drop me an email and we'll talk.'') If you're asking me to make a specific custom toy based on another character, then the answer is ''no.''

But with that said, if you have any ideas you'd like to suggest I incorporate into the line, then feel free to email me. I may not pay any attention to your ideas and if I use them you'll get nothing more than a ''thanks'' but if it's something you'd like to discuss, then I'd love to hear from you.

Q: What's to stop me making my own figures and selling them online?
A: Only your own self-doubt.

Q: Can I email you?
A: Sure. Just don't send me any nudes, messages from Nigerian Princes or photos of your cat.
